BT Connection in Hartley House and Jacobs House

by hamishmccallum on 10 June, 2015

New residents moving into the two new Peabody buildings on Chambers Street (Hartley House and Jacobs House) have contacted me regarding the lack of a BT connection to their flats.

Despite installing the necessary internal cabling during the construction stage, and being well aware of the development’s completion date, BT have now taken over two months to connect the buildings to the Openreach exchange – leaving residents without access to phone or internet services.

When I was alerted to the cause of this delay last week, I immediately made direct contact with the Chief Executive of BT Openreach to request his personal intervention and urgent resolution.

I have since received a reply from BT to inform me that the final connection should be made today (Wednesday 10th June) but have not, as yet, received confirmation that this has happened.

This delay is totally unacceptable and has caused great inconvenience and cost for local residents. I will therefore be contacting BT in due course to request that they consider compensating affected residents.

If you live in either Hartley House or Jacobs House and have been affected by this issue, please email me (including your full name and address) at hamish.mccallum@southwark.gov.uk so that I can make representations on your behalf.
